Choetech Universal Bike Mount Phone Holders

The phone clip arrived in the time-frame given. Upon first appearance. it looked flimsy since it is made of plastic. The clip tightened onto my handle bars with ease, but since the nut and product are plastic, I thought I may have stripped the threading when insuring it was tightened enough. The connection of the phone holder to the clip is held together by 4 small plastic slides that lock into 4 openings by pressing the separate pieces together and forcibly sliding to lock. It was not an easy fit, which I'm sure is to prevent disconnection while riding over different terrains. the plate that the phone is placed on has a non-slip material which does help to hold the phone in place. The phone is held by 2 reverse springed bars. It is awkward to try and push them apart and place the phone between them. The further you push them apart, the pressure created from the springs increases exponentially. I have a phone holder in my vehicle that with the press of a button releases the side holders outward away from the device and you squeeze the holders together till they are firmly pressed against the sides of the phone while locking under pressure. This is a far more user friendly way to insure the phone is held in place than the use of springs on this mount. Once the phone is locked it, it will not slip out, but is just as difficult to remove as it was to insert. The clip holding the apparatus to the handlebars has held so far, but with the difficulties in mounting my phone I would rather just leave my phone in my pocket, use a belt clip, or not bring it with me at all. I like the idea of the mount and would use it ever time I ride my bike, but would not recommend this model unless you wish to roll the dice on whether or not your phone will be held in place and dropping of the phone is a possibility while riding.

Not long after the above review was posted, I was contacted by the company concerning my disappointment in the product. They were very friendly and offered to replace the mount I received with a newer model. Of course I accepted since I was looking forward to being able to have a quality phone mount for my bike. The new mount is perfect (Model No. H43-C84). The new model arrived earlier than expected. Upon opening I immediately noticed the difference between the previous model and the new one. The mounting system to the handle bars is stronger. The mounting plate for the phone expands with ease and locks the phone in place. It also has a elastic band that wraps over the phone as a backup incase the grip loosens or fails for some reason. I would recommend this model to anyone. It appears that all of the flaws of the previous model have been taken care of with this new one.
